Baby Lists: What to Do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby:
The amount of baby gear on the market is overwhelming. It’s hard to distinguish the “must-haves” from the “nice-to-haves” when you’re browsing your favorite baby website or standing in the aisles of Babies R Us. Baby Lists: What to Do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby, a consumer’s guide for expectant parents, provides practical advice on what to buy, why and how much of everything you’ll need.
Baby Lists has practical lists of what to register for, how many onesies and burp cloths to buy, what to pack for the hospital, what questions to ask your prospective pediatrician, what questions to ask babysitters and nannies, and more. Author and baby nurse, Elaine Farber, gives expert advice on how to pick a stroller, bouncy seat, swing, high chair, breast-pump, potty, toys, bath, and much more. Her product suggestions and reviews help narrow down the options and take some of the guesswork out of buying expensive baby gear.
If you’re feeling anxious about what to buy and how to prepare your nursery for baby, you’ll find this book indispensable.

Guide Review - Baby Lists by Elaine Farber
I'm not really that into books of lists so I was surprised that Baby Lists was fun to read. It is much more than a list, it is an organized conglomeration of information about specifics topics from strollers to car seats, breast pads to picking a pediatrician.
One of the really handy aspects of the book was the level of detailed information on how to find some of the items. Have you ever seen something in a magazine and wanted to order it but couldn't figure out where it came from? Farber makes sure that doesn't happen, by giving you some multiples resources for items.
Her knowledge of baby care certainly shows in the baby care items. And, as a mother of multiples myself, I love that she addresses multiple babies through out the book.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Baby Lists – What to Do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby
Elaine Farber’s Baby Lists quick-reference guide takes the “labor” out of preparing for baby.
San Mateo, CA., January 12, 2008— Author, newborn consultant, and multiple-birth specialist Elaine Farber made life easier for her clients, parents-to-be, as soon as she started creating how-to lists for them. The lists covered every aspect of preparing for one or multiple new babies, which can be an overwhelming experience for any new parent. Demand for Elaine’s baby lists continued to increase as word about their value spread. The fortunate result is Baby Lists.
From creating a birthing plan, to choosing a pediatrician, to selecting the right car seat or stroller, Baby Lists takes the guesswork out of planning what you’ll need from pregnancy through birth, listing only tried-and-true, mommy-endorsed products and information. And Baby Lists is unique in its focus on everything the expectant mother needs to get and do before and after baby arrives. This specialized content makes it a great companion to all the other books that give advice about pregnancy and the parenting process.
The book is the combined result of Farber’s first-hand professional experience in working with newborns and their parents, and extensive research to identify the best products and resources for parents-to-be and their baby(ies). “My goal was to write a book that would alleviate those overwhelming and anxious feelings expectant parents have when preparing for their baby(ies).” states Farber. “I think Baby Lists does just that by putting all the information expectant parents need to prepare for their baby(ies) right at their fingertips.” And this includes valuable tips and information that many parents-to-be often don’t realize they’ll want to know until they read the book.
Baby Lists is separated into three main parts: “Becoming Baby Ready,” “Necessities and Nice Things to Have,” and “Books, Videos, DVDs, and Music.” Each part is subdivided into individual chapters and categories. Readers can easily pinpoint a specific need, such as choosing a hospital, buying nursery necessities, and even beginning their baby’s music library. Baby Lists also addresses the many questions expecting parents have, such as “What will I need to buy for my baby?” “How many bottles do I buy for my twins?” and “What is the best stroller for my triplets?” Farber provides detailed answers to those questions and more. For parents, knowing what they need before they walk into a baby store or shop online saves both time and money. The book includes recommended product manufacturers and Website addresses for quick access to product information and ordering.
Farber sums it up, “Baby Lists is a unique reference guide offering real-world information and shopping lists to help parents get ready for the arrival of their baby(ies). With so many things to think about, such as what needs to be done, products they’ll need to buy, how to choose these products, and how to choose the best products among the overwhelming array on the market, expectant parents have many questions that need answers.” Baby Lists has those answers.

BabyGearToday.com Review January 17, 2008
Preparing for your new baby can be a very overwhelming task. What exactly do you need, or not need? Will I forget something that is really important to have on hand? With this wonderful book, Baby Lists, you can feel at ease knowing you are completely prepared. Elaine Farber, the author of Baby Lists, knows a thing or two about which baby products are essential to have for a new baby. Being a nanny, consultant to expectant parents, childcare professional, she has worked in hospital nurseries, and a mother of three, has given her much needed insight in the preparation department.
Working in the childcare profession for twenty five years, and her vast knowledge of just what it actually takes to make things a little easier, makes her someone you can look to for trustworthy advise. Her book Baby Lists is a detailed list of items that you will need to help prepare you and your home for your new baby. I wish I had discovered this book before I had my daughter, it is truly an excellent resource for new parents. The first chapter is about choosing a hospital, things you should think about before choosing the hospital you will deliver your baby at. The end of the chapter has questions to ask when you are at the hospital and it even had a place for you to write in the answers to your questions. There are chapters that deal anywhere from your birth plan to what baby gear you will need- features to look for, brands, safety features, everything you need to know about baby gear. My favorite chapter is on stocking your first aid kit/ medicine chest. I am a nurse, and there are things in there I didn’t think of to have in case of an emergency. For instance, Activated Charcoal, I wouldn’t have thought to get that for my baby, but it makes perfect sense, if she drinks something and it is not advised to induce vomiting, you would want something to absorb the liquid. She even gives websites where you can check out the products mentioned. To all expectant moms, or if you have an older baby, you can definitely benefit from this great book. This book would make an excellent baby shower gift as well. A definite BabyGearToday.com new mom must have!!Go check out her site HERE.

One Chic Mama Review January 14, 2008

The List Goes On
Ok, you're pregnant. Now what? You know you'll need a boatload of diapers, but what else? There are so many options out there for baby, it's easy to get overwhelmed. You need some well-informed and experienced advice about what you'll really need at each phase.
Elaine Farber is the author of Baby Lists: What to Do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby, as well as a newborn consultant and mother of three. She has coached hundreds of families through early parenting, has worked in hospital nurseries and run a daycare center, among other things. In short, she knows what it takes to be prepared when babies and kids are involved. In her book, Baby Lists, divided into three parts, Elaine begins with lists for becoming baby-ready. These include such essentials as writing a birth plan, interviewing a pediatrician, and packing your bag for the hospital (including lists for siblings and an extensive list for the mom-to-be).
Elaine goes on to recommend necessities and niceties, distinguishing between what you'll need and what's just nice to have. This helps give new parents the real dirt to keep them from being tempted to just buy one of everything at the baby superstore, and from looking like a deer in headlights when confronted with stroller choices. Giving us the lowdown on high-chairs, strollers, car seats, baby gates, diaper bags and much, much more, Elaine's got checklists of what to look for and even includes a list of the best toys for baby's first year.
The third section of the book gives great recommendations on creating your personal library. With suggestions on what books will tell you what's happening with your baby and your body (from What to Expect When You're Expecting, Third Edition to The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy) to parenting books and DVD's. She also give suggestions on what music your baby will enjoy. At the end of the book, Elaine offers up some great resources for online shopping. She breaks it all down into a master shopping list, which can be very helpful when it comes time to create a baby registry or make that first shopping trip for baby gear.
Baby Lists is like getting advice from your mom or your best friend all rolled into one. Included are helpful time saving hints on caring for a newborn once you're home, and quotes from other moms throughout the book as an added bonus. Elaine Farber knows her stuff, and will give you useful information to prepare you every step of the way. I sure wish I had this book when I was pregnant. A highly recommended read for all new moms and moms-to-be, Baby Lists makes a great shower gift.

Baby Lists by Elaine Farber
What to do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby
$14.95
With a zillion and one books out there about pregnancy, motherhood and what to expect, this book by Elaine Farber stands out of the crowd. This is my second pregnancy so I skipped the “What to expect when your Expecting” and the “Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy” after all I have been through it before and I read through them the first time.
Even when I was given the opportunity to review this book, I was sure I already knew all I needed, until it was time to start planning for my new baby’s arrival. I suddenly realized I had forgotten so much, what I really needed to take to the hospital, what I needed for a newborn, and even what I needed to have in my birthing plan. Of course my old plan was no where to be found so I was left dumbfounded.
That is until I picked up Elaine Farber’s book, “Baby Lists – What to do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby”. This book contains hundreds of list to get ready for baby! Not sure what to pack for the hospital, Farber has a list for that. Not sure how many onesies, blankets, and burp cloths to buy, there is a list to help you to decide. Not sure what to ask when interviewing a nanny, she has a list to help you get started.
I found the book especially useful when it was time to write my own birthing plan, without Farber’s list I would have left out so many details. Her list about what to pack for the hospital helped me tremendously. Two years ago when we went to the hospital to deliver my daughter the nurses laughed about how big my bag was. This time around I have a small overnight bag packed with just the necessities.
Here are some other helpful lists you will find in this book:
* Buying and packing a diaper bag
* Products for nursing mothers
* Traveling accessories
* Daily feeding schedule sheet
* Baby Gear
There is even a parenting library at the end listing other helpful books and resources to help you through the journey of parenthood.

A Book of Lists for Parents and Parents To Be
I love making lists, and I especially love crossing things off my list. But, when I was pregnant with my first child, I had no idea where to even get started making lists. I knew I needed to buy diapers and prepare the nursery, but other than that, I was completely lost. What did I need to buy and register for? What should I remember to do before the baby comes? How do I choose a pediatrician or childcard? What should I pack in my hospital bag?
Luckily for moms to be now, newborn consultant Elaine Farber has recently published a book called “Baby Lists, What to DO and What to Get to Prepare for Baby“. This book, which is a whopping 317 pages long, contains lists for everything you’d ever imagine, including how to choose a stroller, what to buy for baby bathtime, how to choose nursery furniture, and how to choose a pediatrician.
Quantity of information isn’t it’s only great feature — it’s also organized well, so that you can simply skip around to view whatever section you are interested in. In addition, the book lists other resources as well, including the websites where you can find the products and items recommended.
You can find Baby Lists at Amazon.com.
